Jason Statham is going what he does best, kicking ass and blowing things up and if that's what you look for in a movie then this is definitely the one for you. What made me want to take a peek at this movie was Statham is joined by Tommy Lee Jones, who let's face it, almost always delivers as well as Jessica Alba. The trailer really made this movie look enticing and did a job well done with that.
But, the real question is does the movie stand up to it's expectations? My answer is disappointing. The movie storyline is paper thin at best and feels a though it's only held together by some nice action sequences. Not even the appearance of a master actor like Tommy Lee Jones could save this movie and it has a straight to DVD feel about it at best.
With Statham, I kinda root for the guy, he's had hots and misses before and seems to do very well in a supporting actor role opposite A-list actors such as when he appeared in Furious 7 or the huge acting talent in The Italian Job.
I know there's a fan base for these kinds of movies and if you're one of them then you'll be excited to see this one but, sadly, Statham missed the mark again with Mechanic Resurrection (2016). I sincerely hope and look forward to a good action movie with Statham showing us how it's done as he did way back in The Transporter franchise but time will tell.
MECHANIC RESURRECTION (2016) SYNOPSIS
Living under cover in Brazil, master assassin Arthur Bishop (Jason Statham) springs back into action after an old enemy (Sam Hazeldine) kidnaps the woman (Jessica Alba) he loves. To save her life, Bishop must kill an imprisoned African warlord, a human trafficker (Toby Eddington) and an arms dealer (Tommy Lee Jones), all while making the deaths look like accidents. When things don't go exactly as planned, Bishop turns the tables on the people who forced him out of retirement.
