Okay fans of Texas Chainsaw Massacre, here's exactly the kind of news that you've been waiting for all your life, apparently a Leatherface movie is in the works. The movie will serve as a prequel to all the previous movies and will feature a story showing the early years and rise of that murderous chainsaw wielding villain Leatherface.
The original Texas Chainsaw Massacre was released in 1974 and the last instalment, Texas Chainsaw 3D was released in 2013. Texas Chainsaw 3D (2013) grossed around $47 million worldwide proving to be just a little mediocre but after 7 movies and such a long history in cinema there are practically a potential for generations of fans from the 70's to the present who would want to see the movie.
Heres what The Wrap are reporting:
Julien Maury and Alexandre Bustillo, the French filmmakers behind cult hit “Inside,” are in talks to direct the “Texas Chainsaw Massacre” prequel “Leatherface” for Millennium Films, an individual familiar with the project has told TheWrap on Halloween.
Up-and-coming genre scribe Seth M. Sherwood wrote the screenplay, which is expected to serve as an origin story that follows Leatherface's early years in the 1970s.
Carl Mazzocone is producing “Leatherface,” while Christa Campbell and Lati Grobman will serve as executive producers, having successfully resurrected the “Texas Chainsaw” franchise last year.
Millennium Films is financing the project and will sell international rights. Millennium executives Beth Bruckner and Christine Crow are overseeing “Leatherface” for the studio.
