ULTIMATE REVIEW - JOKER (2019) Watch as JOAQUIN PHOENIX Takes Us on A Dark, Tormented Origin Story

No, this is not a superhero movie with over-the-top special effects and beings with  'magical' stones snapping their fingers and ending the universe as we know it and neither is it one of flying beings or any other image in your head of a superhero or supervillain movie.

Instead Director Todd Phillips paints his canvass with the help of the ever brilliant Joaquin Phoenix as we go on a voyage of discovery with the lead character. The story is told in such a brilliant way that we discover everything through the eyes of our dark villainous main character.

What begins as a simple story slowly sees us go through the realisations and see a darker picture unfold in front of us and without a blink we're deep in mental illness and societal issues, which may also be a reflection of elitism, as portrayed by Thomas Wayne and the almost destitute and poor, like Arthur Fleck A.K.A The Joker.

Let me once again reiterate there's no Harley Quinn or a Batman figure with huge effects, this movie is acting and story-telling genius at it's best and perhaps recommended only for true fans of this Americana legend and comic book lovers.

This movie is perhaps going to be the definitive story of the Joker without pushing the talents of Heath Ledger who's excellent portrayal of the Joker perhaps was the push in the direction of this movie so many years ago.

The movie astonishes me because of the choice of Phillips as a director, you may remember Phillips as the one who brought us The Hangover movies a few years ago and the leap from comedy to such a dark tragic movie is truly amazing and really shows us Phillips worth.

Real fans who need to know the origin story of the Joker will definitely enjoy this and I advise everyone to watch this, it's about to become a movie classic, mark my words, you will not be let down. The shock and equal awe of this movie will last long after you've seen it.
