DRACULA UNTOLD REVIEW
Sat down to watch this movie earlier today. I have to say I was a little impressed with this updated retelling of the Dracula legend. Now if you're a Bram Stoker fan then I suggest you take his book and throw it out the window because, while this movie relates to it, it's really a far-cry from the original storyline, but don't be too disappointed as this movie does have it's merits.
A complete rewrite of the origin story of the vampire king is presented too us and it's akin to any superhero story playing in theatres these days, which will help bring the story of Vlad the Impaler to yet another generation and may prove interesting enough for people to read Stoker's actual novel.
We presented with a very noble warrior in the form of Lee Evans, as the aforementioned prince who against all his good intentions gives up his humanity to save his family as well as his people from the threat presented by once allies, the Turkish Army. Pieces of the original Dracula are embedded here and there but otherwise the story is a completely fresh take into his life.
They do well, through melody and story to make us fall in love with the charismatic blood thirsty monster. I, at one point, found a lump in my throat as our hero tries to save the woman he loves and this urges him on into becoming something different. With enough motivation we will do anything to protect our loved ones and that is exactly the point this movies sets out to prove.
Definitely give this one a look and be prepared to follow a story that doesn't totally focus on horror but the origin of a man fighting for what he cherishes most in this world, rather sentimental but worth the watch.
