JEXI (2019) REVIEW
I do enjoy Adam Devine's always over-the-top performances and if you're a Devine fan then this is what you've been waiting for. With a crazy plot about a phone software system, with one hell of a foul mouth, that totally takes control of his life for better or for worse.

Whilst not Academy Award material this movie does offer and entertaining 90 minutes of distraction with the added bonus of watching Michael Pena, who always excels and steals the show in most of his movie appearances and continues to do this in Jexi too as well as Rose Byrne voicing the Jexi system / phone and lastly but certainly not least, watch out for Wanda Sykes wonderful appearance as a phone sales person.

There's also the love interest as played by Alexandra Shipp that adds a nice little bit of sweetness as we see romance between her and Devine's character as well as Devine's Phil personal growth thanks to his deranged phone, making friends and coming out of his shell and discovering life by mmaking friends and actually leaving his San Francisco apartment.

The movie is written and directed by Jon Lucas, Scott Moore. Lucas is best known for his impressive writing credits for movies like The Hangover, Bad Moms and Office Christmas Party.

JEXI (2019) SYNOPSIS
Phil has a major dependency issue -- he's addicted to his cellphone. He has no friends and his love life is nonexistent. Forced to upgrade to a new phone, Phil soon learns that the latest model comes with Jexi -- an artificial intelligence life coach, virtual assistant and cheerleader. With its help, he begins to get a real life. But as he becomes less dependent on the phone, Jexi starts to morph into a tech nightmare that's determined to keep Phil all to itself.

Nice one guys, we had to wait a decade for a sequel! For fans of the original Zombieland (2009), this movie is definitely worth the wait. We see our original unlikely heroes return in this all-new story and with the extra assistance of new additions like Rosario Dawson, Zoey Deutch and Luke Wilson amongst others.

I thoroughly enjoyed this movie, it's exactly what we've been waiting for in a sequel to an originally funny movie and just extends their adventure a little further. The humour flows nicely as does the story but in terms of breaking new ground, the movie does not.

Don't get me wrong the movie is filled with hilarious situations and the fast witted humour and comedy are extremely memorable. There are also new, different zombies, at least 3 by my count who add to new changes in the movie as well but the most memorable part for me has got to be the inclusion of Bill Murray as we see what happens on Day Zero of the zombie apocolypse whilst still making fun of himself for his part in the Garfield movies.

The movie is once again directed by Ruben Fleischer who took up the role in the first Zombieland. With an estimated budget of $42 million the movie saw a a gross of $72,785,288 and a worldwide gross of $121, 026, 085 which definitely made it a success and hopefully this time we may get a third movie and not have to wait a decade for it.

One long decade after the post-apocalyptic events in Zombieland (2009), the resilient quartet of survivors--the tough-as-nails zombie exterminator, Tallahassee; his rule-making comrade, Columbus; the free-spirited huntress, Wichita, and her younger sister, Little Rock--find themselves in the bosom of a now-derelict White House. However, in a rabid world still overrun by multitudes of walking dead and mutated strains of evolved animated corpses, a premeditated separation will send the team back to square one, searching, once more, for the promised land. Already going into this one I had a feeling of familiarity towards the movie and my thoughts went to Steve Carrell's The 40 Year Old Virgin. I wasn't too far off, in fact this may as well have been named The 30 Year Old Virgin for the obvious similarities between the 2 movies. That said the 2 movies not only share a similar story but both movies are unified by an actor who appeared in both, namely comedian, Jane Lynch.

A man in his 30's has been held back biologically from going through puberty due to a benign tumor and once this tumor is taken away experiences puberty for the first time and all that comes with it in one full swoop! We get taken along the journey with him, his friends, family and the girl of his dreams in what can only be a recipe for disaster and mischief.

The movie is watchable and has eye candy in the form of Brittany Snow and Paul Wesley ( The Vampire Diaries ) as well as experienced actors such as J.K. Simmons and Maria Bello. I found the movie enjoyable and watchable, though not as wonderful as it's predecessor, The 40 Year Old Virgin.


Directed by Kevin Pollak and starring Charlotte McKinney, Johnny Simmons, Blake Cooper ,Kumail Nanjiani, Beck Bennett, Lenora Crichlow, Diana Lyubenova, Paul Wesley, Brittany Snow, J.K. Simmons, Maria Bello and Jane Lynch. The movie was released 7 October 2016 in the USA.

If you're ever in the mood for laughter and hilarity then Mike And Dave Need Wedding Dates (2016) is just the movie for you. From start to end we see the hi jinx caused by the two leading characters that lead them from one insanely funny scenario to the next!

The opening bar scene already sets the tone for the rest of the movie as we see Mike and Dave attempt to con a bar manager, played by none other than Marc Maron, into buying their brand of tequila, The movie certainly does not set out to win any Academy Awards but with the A list star power behind this and the eye candy of the 4 main characters, what more do you need to drive a successful movie?

While I really enjoyed this movie, the producers and filmmakers also had a field day as the movie made off a budget of $33 million earned more than $76,326,720  worldwide and thus doubling it's original budget! That might just be enough to warrant a sequel too!

Directed by Jake Szymanski, the movie stars Zac Efron, Adam Devine, Anna Kendrick, Aubrey Plaza, Stephen Root. The movie was originally released in theaters 8 July 2016.
