Who would have thought an Aquaman movie would ever be brought to theaters but after the success of Man of Steel, the DC universe has opens it's doors to this and the rest of the Justice League members. We caught a glimpse of Aquaman in video footage shown briefly in Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justice (2016) and then even more in the Justice League Comic Con trailer ( below ) released earlier this year.
What we do know thus far is that Jason Momoa will portray our Atlantean king. Warner Bros have dropped the blonde haired original persona for a more rugged interpretation ( and happily so ). Momoa, in case you were wondering, was the lead character in Conan The Barbarian (2011) and was Khal Drogo in the popular TV Show, Game of Thrones.
Amber Heard joins the cast as Mera with Willem Dafoe starring as Nuidis Vulko.
The next best thing to happen to Aquaman is the choice of director and that mantle goes to James Wan. Wan is known for directing movies such as Saw, Insidious, The Conjuring and Furious 7 to name a few, so this movie is in excellent hands.
Aquaman will feature in the Justice League movie first, to be released November 2017 before the release of his own solo movie to be released around the end of July 2018.
