IT'S BEEN JUST SHORT OF 20 YEARS SINCE THE RELEASE OF THE ORIGINAL INDEPENDENCE DAY ... in 1996 and now it's been announced that the sequel will be made and once again directed by the original movie's Roland Emmerich! Thus far it seems Will Smith will not be returning but the casting phase is still early and still no synopsis either.
What we do have is the news that Jeff Goldblum will be returning and bringing with him, Liam Hemsworth and Jesse Usher. Well if Goldblum and Emmerich's return isn't awesome news enough then perhaps fans should wait as more unfolds regarding this giant science fiction adventure! Independence Day sequel has been slated for a July 4th, 2016 release date.
