THE EQUALIZER (2014) ... You'll Love DENZEL WASHINGTON Raising Hell Against The Russian Mob!!!

The mere thought of Denzel Washington doing an intense action movie is enough to pull any of his fans as well as action junkies to theatres. Washington, who we thought was getting a little soft shows us how a brilliant actor such as himself can return respect to the action genre as a whole.

Now I'm going to be honest, when I first read the storyline of this one a man and a young girl, my mind already filled with thoughts of Jean Reno as The Professional protecting a tiny Natalie Portman and even Denzel Washington protecting Dakota Fanning in the excellent and unforgettable Man on Fire. So I kind of imagined a repeat of Denzel doing what he did in Man on Fire but boy was I wrong!

Once again Washington brings his intensity to a role which honestly, had it starred anyone else, may have been lost in the realm of straight to DVD movies but such isn't the case. Washington is mysterious dark, broody.... basically all the traits of a great action hero. We watch him as he takes on the likes of a very violent Russian mafia by killing people and blowing things up in a game of strategy as two equal hunt each other across the city and resulting in one victor and one being defeated.

One sees clear traces of the movie's TV show background in the form of Washington's character helping people along the way throughout the movie which lends itself to the original show in which week after week, McCall assist people who can't fight off the baddies without his special skills.

Now let's cut to the chase, if you're a fan of Washington you'll definitely enjoy this, if you're an action fan then this is also for you but perhaps if nothing else, you should rather see if you can get your kicks out of let's say Expendables 3 because this is smart, intelligent and a vehicle for once again showing off the talent of Washington as an actor and action hero! Go get it, what are you waiting for?

Robert McCall (Denzel Washington), a man of mysterious origin who believes he has put the past behind him, dedicates himself to creating a quiet new life. However, when he meets Teri (Chloë Grace Moretz), a teenager who has been manhandled by violent Russian mobsters, he simply cannot walk away. With his set of formidable skills, McCall comes out of self-imposed retirement and emerges as an avenging angel, ready to take down anyone who brutalizes the helpless.
